Industrial hemp: bio-based, sustainable and renewable
Clara Norell, a creative innovator with a strong network that spans the world. Clara is a construction engineer – educated in Sweden, at Malmö University, as well as a civil engineer education in South Africa, at Cape Technikon Peninsula University. She has a deep interest for industrial hemp and will share with us the business opportunities on how it can be a sustainable building material and a heath benefit.
She recently started the corporation Nordiska Hampa Kompaniet – NOHAK to grow and produce hemp. Awarded Region Skånes (Miljövårdsfond) Environmental Protection Fund 2019 to conduct a two-day conference in May 2019 on industrial hemp, read more and sign up here ”Hampa-event på Orient”. Her vision and dream is to build sustainable hemp houses with innovative water and energy technology for the poorest population in South Africa. Her discussions with South Africa focus on her ideas on innovative rainwater management linked to her prototype RDP (Renewal Development Program) house.

Clara has shared her life between Cape Town and Skåne since 2003. She was part of founding and establishing the Swedish – Southern African Chamber of Commerce (now Sub-Saharan Africa) 2013. She has more than 10 years of experience in project/process and operational management in sustainable urban development. Besides all that she runs her own record label, Illegyal Records, and a event production company Xpress Yourself.
