Construction and real estate represent as much as 40% of all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions globally. Virgin materials like concrete, steel and glass are three of the reasons that construction of new buildings make up for 10% of the total emissions.
To increase the use of recycled construction materials, is therefore a main focus for this industry. But transforming a whole value chain is difficult and takes time. New incentives are needed to resolve the many bottlenecks getting in the way of circular construction. In a full-day workshop, The Bridge and Bloxhub Denmark, invited Skanska and If P&C insurance company together with 20 local stakeholders to initiate collaborations that can take the circular solutions from pilot to mainstream.
